My mother was a kind and gentle person full of beauty and grace. I admired her strength in the toughest of times and the words of wisdom that she shared with me that are still seared into my mind. She was raised in a rural place called Owensville Albemarle County Virginia USA surrounded by nature, spring creeks and all kinds of fresh berries that you can pick off the bush to eat. She followed in her family's footsteps and came to New York City so that she could sing and dance with all of the jazz greats! The Duke, the Count, the Lady Singing

the Blues in Harlem's Cabaret. Jazz Bands were Swinging at the Savoy and so was my Father Logan Leroy Hawkins aka "Lord Hawkins'' steadily hitting the keys on the house piano with his quartet the people got out of their seats and danced to the beat. My mom auditioned and sang a song with ease that was it they fell in love and the rest is history. They spent a lifetime together raising 3 boys and 1 girl until my father passed away in March of 1993. Well you and him are together; along with Jimmy and Roy. I pray that all of you are together in heaven resting In the bosom of our Savior's arms. I hope and pray that you were not alone when the Lord called you home and that Joe, Adam and Rex were there for you showing their appreciation for all you have done. No one told me that you were gone but the Holy Spirit prompted me to search for you online so that I could know where you are... Rest in Peace you don't have to be alone anymore...I hope you are happy and singing while Jimmy is blowing his trumpet and Roy is singing with glee as you and Dad sing and dance to your favorite jazz melody...Thank you for being the best Mom Ever and setting me Free to Be Me.... Your Daughter Polly....
