Dennis was born in Karlstad, Oct. 24, 1955, the son of Ivan and Bernice (Coffield) Olson. He graduated from Karlstad High School and served with the U.S. Navy from 1973 to 1975.
On Oct. 15, 1979 he was united in marriage to Debra Grissam in Federal Way, Wash. They moved to Mandan in 1987 and to Greenbush in 1989. Dennis worked for Polaris in Roseau and had been with the company since March of 1989.
He was a member of the Badger Archery Club and also a Boy Scout Leader.
Family members include his wife, Debra; two daughters, Tara (Russell) Peterson, Roseau, and Sadie Olson, Thief River Falls, a son, Derrick Olson, Thief River Falls; a granddaughter, Samantha Peterson; two grandsons, Brandon and Devon Peterson; five brothers, Bob (Bonnie) Olson, Barry (Connie) Olson, David Olson, Ronnie (Virginia) Olson all of Lake Bronson, and Rick (Nancy) Olson, Newfolden; five sisters, DeAnn Collins, Thief River Falls, Sharon (Dwight) Undeberg, Lake Bronson, Sandy (Don) Austad, Warroad, Johann McKeag, Erhard, and Nancy (Mark) Peterson, Lake Bronson; as well as niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lynn and a brother, Jim.
Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, 2 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church at Lake Bronson. Rev. Mitch Tolpingrud, presided.
Pallbearers were Gregory Olson, Bradley Olson, Lance Olson, Justin Peterson, Jeffrey Peterson and Jason Olson.
Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Lake Bronson. Military honors were accorded by the Halma-Lake Bronson American Legion Post.
