Lola Irene Mounce was born on August 5, 1926, in Cedar Crest, Oklahoma, to Dick and Iva (Breedlove) Cooper. She departed this life on Friday, November 16, 2007, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 11 days. Growing up, Irene attended Cedar Crest Schools. On May 14, 1944, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Irene and J.W. Mounce were united in marriage and were married for over 51 years. J.W. preceded his wife in death on December 15, 1995. Irene worked as a cook for Cooks Restaurant for over 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Locust Grove and loved reading the word of God. She enjoyed doing seamstress work and enjoyed taking care of cattle. She loved her family and grandchildren dearly. She is survived by: 2 children: Robbie Mounce and Jody Russell, both of Locust Grove, OK; 10 grandchildren: Lynn Mounce, Lou Mounce, Lee Mounce, Monte Mounce, Wendal Mounce and wife Salena, Jackie Mounce, Kristina Mounce, Nancy Mounce, Terry Wayne Russell, and Brian Russell and wife Zelinda; 3 brothers: Gene Cooper and wife Joyce, Kenny Cooper and wife Patty, and Dickie Cooper and wife Janie, all of Locust Grove; 3 sisters: Katherine Harris and husband Bill, Bobbie Jean McClung and husband Bill, both of Locust Grove, OK, and Bonnie Harding of Tulsa, OK; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; 1 daughter: Vicky Pierce; 1 grandson: Nicholas Mounce; and 1 brother: Sonny Cooper. Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M, Monday, November 19, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church of Locust Grove. Reverend Allen Buck and Reverend Keith Marler officiated. Interment followed at the McClain Cemetery.
