C. Beatrice McClelland, 87, a former Franklin resident, died at 5:30 a.m. April 29, 1994, in the Shenango Presbyterian Home in New Wilmington. She had resided at the home since 1986.
A daughter of Robert G. and Bertha Perrine Barnes, she was born March 3, 1907, in Reeds Furnace, Mercer County.
She married S. Charles McClelland on June 22, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1966.
She was a graduate of Sandy Lake High School and Welch's Business College in Oil City.
Mrs. McClelland was employed by Polk State Hospital from 1955 until 1967.
She was a member of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church for more than 60 years. She was an active leader in the 4-H and participated in various extension activities. She also was a founding member of the White School PTA and the Sandycreek Community League.
Mrs. McClelland had an interest in local history and genealogy. For many years she had been a member of the Venango County Historical Society, Mercer County Historical Society and the Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society.
In 1977, she published an extensive history of the Barnes family at Mercer County. She was also responsible for the preservation of the original 19th century records of the general store in Raymilton, Pa.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Nancy) Sadler of New Wilmington and Mrs. Paul (Sandra) Everett of Phoenix; a sister, Mrs. James (Iva) Carr of Oil City; and four grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore and Robert Barnes, Jr.
Visitation will be tomorrow in the Huff Funeral Home Chapel, Franklin, from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeffrey J. Harmeling, pastor of the Rocky grove Avenue Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Center Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Venango County Historical Society or the Mercer County Historical Society.

Funeral services for C. Beatrice McClelland, 87, a former Franklin resident, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Huff Chapel.
Mrs. McClelland died Friday morning in the Shenango Nursing Home in New Wilmington.
The Rev. Jeffrey J. Harmeling, pastor of the Rocky Grove Presbyterian Church, officiated. He read Psalm 103 and other passages of scripture.
Favorite hymns were played by Jean Aldrich.
Interment was made in the Center Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were David P. Everett and Molly Sadler.
Attending the services from a distance were Mrs. Jack Sadler and Molly Sadler, New Wilmington; Mrs. Paul Everett and David Everett, Phoenix, Ariz.; Mr. and Mrs. William Sadler, Warren, Ohio; and Elizabeth Bowles and Patricia Bowles, Buffalo, N.Y.
