EAST PEORIA, IL - Mary Jo Montgomery, 73, of East Peoria passed away at 6:37 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Lee County, Ark., to Andrew John Jackson and Alpha Jane (Dodson) Moore Sr. She married Terry Leon Montgomery in Marion, Ark., on Feb. 19, 1956. He preceded her in death in Memphis, Tenn., on June 27, 1991.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Lewis Andrew Montgomery and John Allie Montgomery; one great-granddaughter, Serenity; and two sisters, Alice and Jeniveve.
Surviving are three daughters, Angela (Ronald) Moore of Morenci, Ariz., Belinda (Charles) Hanson of Creve Coeur and Velvet (Don) Ogle of Creve Coeur; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Andrew John Jackson (Cleta) Moore Jr. of Minonk; and one sister, Nola Jones of Batesville, Ark.
Mary Jo worked for the Institute of Physical Medicine in Peoria while also being a homemaker and last worked as a self-employed cosmetologist before retiring.
She was a member of Faith Christian Centre in Washington, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
