Rex O. Dilbeck, Gassville farmer
Rex Orville Dilbeck, 65, of Gassville, a former professional baseball player and farmer, died Friday at the Bull Shoals Community Hospital.
The son of Mrs. Hessie Jordan Dilbeck and the late Henry Dilbeck, he was born April 1, 1911, at Gassville. He played baseball with the San Diego Padres, a Pacific Coast League team, and after retiring in 1944 returned to Baxter County to farm in the Gassville area. He and the former Joan Adams were married at Gainesville, Mo., Jan. 15, 1939.
Surviving are his wife, of Gassville; a daughter Donnie (Mrs Stanley) Pitchford of Mountain Home; a son, Dean Dilbeck of Downers Grove, Ill.; his mother, of Gassville; two sisters, Alene Lonon of Gassville and Iva Wiltfong of Mountain Home; two brothers, Neil and Harvey Dilbeck, both of Gassville, and five grandchildren. Mr. Dilbeck's first wife, the former Edyth Mooney, is deceased, as are a brother Lloyd and a sister Edith.
Services were private, and under the direction of the Roller Funeral Home.
