Harold was born on December 25th, 1919 in Leavenworth Township, the son of Edwin & Mary (Ludewig) Berberich. Harold grew up near Leavenworth and attended country school. After he completed his schooling he served in the US Army during WWII from January of 1945 until May of 1946. He married Genevieve Braun of May 20, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple farmed near Leavenworth until retiring in 1982 and later moving to Sleepy Eye in 1985. Harold was a member of the Catholic Aid Association and a Life member of the Sleepy Eye VFW.

Survivors include his wife Gen Berberich of Sleepy Eye, children, Linda (Kenneth) Hoffmann of New Ulm, Clifford (Sandra) Berberich of Sleepy Eye, Darlene (Gary) Hoffmann of New Ulm, Carl (Anne) Berberich of Rochester and Rita Goblirsch of Springfield, 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sisters, Isabelle (Everett) Huiras of Sleepy Eye, Delrose (Wendelin) Braun of Sleepy Eye, sisters-in-law, Elvera Berberich of Sleepy Eye and Mary Alice Berberich of Comfrey. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Leo and Lenny, sisters, Dorine (Walter) Braulick and Alice (Norbert) Braun.
