George most likely was in business in the Grocery/ Meat Market Industry like his brother's were and his sister's spouses were involved in the same line of business.
Can't locate any TN Death records at this time on George Barnes nor any TN marriage Records. Doubtful there are any in this timeframe. Maybe a will court record?
He evidently purchased the Hollywood Cemetery plot when his brother Willie Barnes ( not on any census due to his year of birth and death ) then George Died and he has a large headstone. Thank You Cristie for the nice photo of George and his Barnes family headstones.
In the same family plot are his father, Samuel Robert Barnes and his mother, Jane Rebecca Jennie Redmond/Redmon ( last name variation used on the TN Williamson County TN marriage records and TN Williamson County Census.....then used Jane and Jennie often. Too, George had evidently bought a large burial plot as his Sibling's are buried in the same section. George was not the first buried here, his baby brother , Willie died first , so planning must have started then. Willie shares a headstone with his parents.
This family plot has George's, parent's, his Brother, John W Barnes, his infant brother, Willie, sister, Eva L Barnes, sister, Jennie ....
George must have had his mother's initial's of J R Barnes put on the stairs leading up to the gravesite, a date of 1899 is visible.
