Charles was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He spent his early childhood there, until his father's business led the family to New York State for a few years and briefly to Canton, Pennsylvania, in 1920.


Charles Kenyon was the son of Edna (Gear) and Roy Louis Kenyon, son of Helen (Utter) and Alonzo Kenyon, son of Melissa (Phelps) and Lyman Kenyon, son of Betsy (Parkhurst) and Barnabas Kenyon, Jr., son of Susanna (Clark) and Barnabas Kenyon, who was a Revolutionary War soldier, who served in Rhode Island.


By 1930, Charles and his family moved to San Francisco, California. He was 16 years old at the time. Later, his father and brothers formed Kenyon Brothers Floor Coverings, 825 Valencia Street, San Francisco, California.


He married his first wife, Pearl M Hooper, daughter of William and Minnie Hooper. Her father was a musician in an orchestra, living at 1040 Valencia Street, San Francisco. They married on 29 Jun 1937, in Reno, Washoe, Nevada. The Kenyon family lived at 966 Valencia Street, San Francisco, California. In 1940, Charles and his first wife, Pearl, lived at 1040 Valencia Street, San Francisco, next door to Pearl's parents.


Charles' WWII Draft registration card, October 16, 1940, showed he was 5'9-1/2" 150 pounds, with blue eyes and blond hair, employed by Kenyon Bros, 825 Valencia Street, San Francisco, California.


Charles and Pearl had a daughter, June Marie Kenyon. They later divorced.


Charles married second, Anna Laura Carstensen, on June 22, 1947, at Calvary Methodist Church, 19th Avenue and Judas Street, San Francisco, California. They lived at 2020 Alemany Boulevard, San Francisco. He worked as a clerk in the family business, R L Kenyon Bros., Inc., located at 825 Valencia Street.


On the 1950 Federal Census, Charles and Ann lived at 2720 Alemany Blvd., San Francisco, California with daughters, June M. and Marilyn A. Charles worked 48 hours the prior week, co-owner of Kenyon Brothers Floor Coverings Company. His parents lived a few houses down the block at 2690 Alemany Boulevard.


After his father, Roy Louis Kenyon, died, in 1955, Charles moved his family to Boulder Creek, California to take over the family business there.


Charles died 10 years later, in 1965. He was buried in Santa Cruz Memorial Park where other family members were also buried.
