Mrs. Adolph (Helen E.) Smejkal, "the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Rezabek) Lorenz was born Aug. 28, 1908, on a farm near Tobias. She moved with her family to Crete in 1925 and graduated from Crete High School in 1926. On May 7, 1930, she married Adolph J. Smejkal. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May 1981. Her husband died the following month. She moved to Norfolk in April 1998 and lived at Skyview Villa Assisted Living." She died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Norfolk. She was survived by 3 sons, 2 daughters, 3 brothers, 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. "In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, one brother and four sisters, one in infancy."
