James Seeds pb b. Co. Down, Ireland, was an Irish Conscript Soldier, enlisting 25 June 1771 in the British Forces called "The Fourth Regiment" which was then stationed at Ft. William, NW area of Scotland, deserted 2 Sep. 1777, PA, m1, ca 1782 to Isabella Fletcher pb in Allegheny Co., PA where they resided in Plumb Twp. James purchaed 1000 acres from Daniel Morgan's survey #1296 located in Franklin & Scioto Co., OH. James and his family were in OH by the spring of 1820. James for years furnished area families with salt he brought from Zanesville on pack horses along a blazed path. He and Isabella had Martha, Robert, James, Aaron, John, William, Moses and Mary Seeds.
