David's lifelong careers were in serving the public. First as the fire chief in Tonopah from 1943 to 1951, also serving for seven of those years as a deputy sheriff.
In 1951, he joined the Nevada High Patrol, transferring to Fallon in 1964, a career that he retired from in 1974 when he became sheriff for Churchill County.
In 1986 after serving for 12 years as the sheriff he opened and operated Fallon Bail Bonds for the next 20 years.
David was never a man to sit idle. He loved horses and racing stock cars, a sport in which he and his sons were very.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Millie; son David Banovich Jr.; brother Michel and sisters Kayo and Annie.
David is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Put and Renee, Rick and Tanya, Randy and Sandie and daughter-in-law Sis Banovich; longtime friend Marilyn Bernard, all of Fallon; grandchildren Christine, Michelle, David III, Marla, Robert, Melissa, Shannon, Lisa, T.R., Mathew, Randee Lynn, Ricky and Michael; great-grandchildren Eva, Sofia, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Luke, Mikaela, Chance, Averie, Taylor, Quincie, Morgan, Cody; andTriton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at May 28 at the Tonopah Cemetery.
