Miss Laura Fogderud, 69, died at her home in Steele August 10, after a year's illness. Funeral services were held Friday morning in Steele and Friday afternoon in St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Walum, with burial at Walum.
Laura Pauline Fogderud was born December 3, 1895 near Hannaford, the daughter of Andrew and Ellen (Mossing) Fogderud. A 1915 graduate of Hannaford High School, she attended Valley City College and was a graduate of Dakota Business College in Fargo. She taught school at the Goplen school near Hannaford and worked in the Hannaford State Bank for a time. She also taught at Cleveland before becoming an office worked in several county courthouses. She worked in Bowman and Cass counties before going to work in the Kidder County Court House in 1927. In 1934 she became deputy county auditor there, a position she held until 1951. From 1951 until her retirement in 1963 she was a bookkeeper at a garage in Steele.
A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Steele, she taught Sunday School there for many years. She also served as treasurer of the Fine Arts Club there for several years.
She leaves a brother, Conrad, Walum; and two sisters, Mrs. Erick Wallin and Miss Eva Fogderud, both of Steele.
