Elbert Strickland was born Sept. 17, 1844 in Choctaw Co., Mississippi, the son of John S. & Lydia Rebecca (Ayres) Strickland. His parent's married Dec. 2, 1840 in Barbour County, Alabama, and moved a few years later to Miss.! They had nine children, their oldest child and daughter was Mary Aviann (Ava Ann) "Strickland" Latham, who was my Great Grandmother...Elbert first married Sarah Elizabeth Watson abt. 1863, and had seven known children. Sarah Elizabeth was born Oct. 5, 1842, and died May 10, 1883 in Webster Co., Mt. Vernon, Mississippi. After her death Elbert married Sarah E. Golding Mar. 9, 1884 in Webster County, Miss. Sarah E. "Sallie" Strickland lived until 1938 in Beauvior, Miss.!
