Alice Frances Meister

MARIETTA-Alice Frances Meister, 94, of 117 Bartlett St. died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 8, 1996) at the Marietta Convalescent Center which had been her residence for the past nine years.

She was born April 25, 1901, in Washington County to Louis and Catherine Zimmer Stephan. She had lived in this area all of her life. She had been a volunteer for the Easter Seal Society for many years. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one son, Don P. Meister and his wife, Phyllis, of Marietta; one daughter, Ann L. Smith of Marietta; three grandchildren, Jill MacRae of Marietta, Becky Cortino of Hickory, N.C., and Stephanie Place of Key Colony Beach, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry G. Meister, whom she married in 1923. He died June 21, 1973. Also preceding her in death are 10 brothers and sisters.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Archer officiating. Burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Grew up at 205 Montgomery Street.

Married Harry Gottlieb Meister on Nov. 8, 1923 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Marietta, Washington County, Ohio.

Mother of twins Ann Louise Meister and Don Paul Meister.
