William Borland passed peacefully away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Leonard, on the Elm Creek road, Hermon, last Thursday morning, aged 86 years. He was the son of John and Lucy Borland. Mr. Borland spent nearly his entire life on a farm near this village. On account of advanced age and rather feeble health he retired from active farm work upward of ten years ago, and had since resided with his daughter until his death. He was modest and retiring in his nature, a true friend to those in need, and one of the best types of men to neighbor with, according to the testimony of those who knew him best. Two daughters, Mrs. Henry Leonard and Mrs. William Leonard, both of Hermon township, and one son, William Borland, of Copenhagen, are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father. Funeral services over his remains were held in the Methodist Episcopal church in this village last Saturday at 1:30pm.
