Edwin Ackerman, 78, a retired Troy farmer who had lived in the Pleasant Rest Nursing Home in Collinsville since 1971, died at 4:15 a.m. Friday.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1898, in Illinois, a son of Henry William and Elizabeth Gerling Ackerman. He was never married.
Mr. Ackerman is survived by a sister, Mrs. Adelle Wessel of Edwardsville, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Melanie Ackerman of Troy and by a number of nephews.
A funeral service was to be held at 1 p.m. today in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Albert Weber officiating. Burial was to be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Troy.
