James N. Morrison, 83, of Wenatchee, died at his home on Sept. 19, 2000, after a long illness.

Mr. Morrison was born Aug. 6, 1917, to Fred and Margaret (Raidy) Morrison in Pocatello, ID.

In 1927, he moved with his family to a ranch outside of Salmon, ID where he finished school.

Jim worked for the Salmon Forest Service and in 1942, joined the United States Army. He trained with the 87th Mountain Ski Troops at Mt. Rainier and was a paratrooper in the European War Campaign. He was in charge of the "Alpine" group for 18 months in the Italian Alps.

While serving in Italy, he was wounded and spent six months in an Italian hospital in 1945. After his honorable discharge, he joined Morrison-Knudson Co. in Boise, ID where he met and married Lucile Radway in 1948. The young couple moved frequently as Jim worked as a Civil Engineer for various jobs throughout the western United States.
