Funeral services for Mr. Matt D. Lofton were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers in Pineville the Dr. David Cranford officiated. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Lofton, 84, of Ball, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at his residence.
Mr. Lofton was a retired store manager of Rapides Auto Supply, Inc. and was an active cattleman. He was a mason and member of the Curtis T. Hines Masonic Lodge #317 F&AM, Tioga. He was also an ordained deacon for 60 years and a member of Tioga First Baptist Church. Mr. Lofton was past president of Water Works District 3 for over 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Josh Lofton and Thresa Mae Bealer Lofton; brothers, Frank, Ralph, and Richard Lofton; and a granddaughter, Lynne Lofton Walker.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Frankie McBride Lofton; sons, Robert Lofton and wife, Lela Melson, of Lake Charles, Dewey Lofton and wife, Karen Petrus, of Walker, and Terry Lofton and wife, Brenda McLemore of Choudrant; brother, Zack L. Lofton of Tioga; sister, Marlene Lemmons of Tioga; grandchildren, Russell Lofton, Barry Lofton, Jesse Lofton, Janna Young, and Jennifer Lofton; and great grandchildren, Lyda Young, Kyla Young, Hope Pittman, Kayla Walker, Matthew Lofton, Jonathan Lofton, and Stephen Lofton.
Pallbearers will be Russell Lofton, Barry C. Lofton, Jesse Lofton, Gary Lemmons, John David Cotton, Charles Arrington, Bobby Litton, and Matthew Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Wesley Davis, Fred Randow, Charles Creed, Ralph Gill, Garland Lemmons, and Todd Frost.
