Birdie R. Sutton, 81, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away on May 26, 2008, in Paducah, Ky. She was born in Eldorado on July 3, 1926, to Isaac and Elizabeth (Laughland) Unthank, along with three sisters and two brothers. She married Emil R. Sutton Sr. on Nov. 20, 1945. He predeceased her in 1998.
Birdie had three children, Judi (Tim) Cathcart, Sherrie (Mick) Cummins and Emil R. Sutton Jr., who survive. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Stephanie Cummins Witt, Cameron Cummins, Jesa Sutton Holt, Emily Sutton, Beau Sutton, Brian Cathcart, Aaron Cathcart and Ima Jean Cathcart Vinyard. She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren, Cody Witt, Trinity Cummins, Alex Cathcart, Lilly Cathcart, Serena Cathcart, Kayte Sutton, Jakob Sutton, Austin Vinyard, Timmy Vinyard and Megan Vinyard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years; and an infant grandson, Shannon.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Wolf Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Herb Buche will officiate. Visitation services will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.
