PRUDEN, DOROTHY
Retired Y-12 Plant Secretary. Dorothy "Bill" Kinnamon Pruden, 76, of Oak Ridge, died at 4 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 1994, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Pruden began her employment with Union Carbide Nuclear Division January 29, 1952, at the Y-12 Plant. She worked as a secretary in the Engineering Division at Y-12 until retiring May 31, 1980.
Born February 19, 1917, in Cartersville, GA, she was the daughter of the late C. H. and Bessie Smith Kinnamon. She moved to Oak Ridge in 1943 from McMinn County and was an active member of Central Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. Her first husband, John Pope Grizzell, died in 1951, and her second husband, Ross C. Pruden, died in 1987.
Mrs. Pruden is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and George McGuffin of Morristown; and a son, John Timothy Grizzell of Morristown. She is also survived by a sister and her husband, Ann and Bob Lewis of Dayton; four brothers and their wives, Ralph C. and Jerry Kinnamon of Oak Ridge, Charles J. and Sadie Kinnamon of Knoxville, George W. and Pat Kinnamon of Summerville, SC, and Robert S. and Dot Kinnamon of Louisville, KY; five grandchildren, Julianne Grizzell, a student at Vanderbilt University, Brantley Grizzell, Frank McGuffin and Patrick McGuffin, all of Morristown, and Mike McGuffin of Atlanta, GA.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, January 22, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Arden Taylor officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 23, at Greenhill Memorial Gardens in Etowah. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1606, Morristown, TN 37816.
