Mrs. Griffin was born in Eubank, on December 23, 1912, to Edgar L. and Doctie Spangler Gooch, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Emery Gooch and three sisters, Fay Converse, Berdina Von Gruenigen and Josephine Belew.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Paul Griffin and an infant son.
She is survived by one son, Jeffrey P. and Sue Griffin of Hillsboro, Ohio; and two daughters, Janie and Dr. Frank Catron of Corbin; and Paula Kay and Jackson Denham of Somerset. Nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Griffin was a teacher in the Pulaski County public school system for 33 years. She was a charter member of the local Tau chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, an organization for career teachers. She was also a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.
She was a member of the Eubank Church of Christ. She was an active member of the Eubank Homemakers Club for more than 40 years. She served as Eubank Cemetery Fund Treasurer until her death.
Funeral services for Mrs. Griffin were conducted at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home on Sunday, December 28, 2003 at 3 p.m., with Bro. Ferlin Price, officiating. Burial was in the Eubank Cemetery.
