D. ELMER DRAIN TAKEN BY DEATH

D. Elmer Drain, 66, prominent resident of Muskingum township, whose home was on his farm in the Putnam neighborhood, died Wednesday at 10:20 p.m. following serious illness during the past few months.

Mr. Drain was born July 6, 1877 in the Veto neighborhood where he spent his early life. His parents were the late John D. and Jane McLarty Drain. He lived in Marietta for a few years before moving to his farm in the Putnam neighborhood at Devol's Dam 36 years ago.

Mr. Drain was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marietta and of the board of trustees of the church. He had been a member of the Session. He was affiliated with Lowell Grange, the Farm Bureau Cooperative Association, and Muskingum Farmers Club. He had also been interested in the community church of his home neighborhood.

Mr. Drain was twice married. His first wife, Mrs. Florence Strecker Drain, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Strecker of the Putnam neighborhood, died in 1925. Two daughters survive of this marriage. They are Mrs. Harriet Drain Rahn, wife of Fred Rahn of 827 Third St., and Mrs. Bertha May Drain Seyler, wife of Paul Seyler of Columbus. In 1933 Mr. Drain married Miss Grace Clogston who was a teacher in Marietta public schools and who survives. There is one granddaughter, Susan Seyler. Edward Drain of Veto is the surviving brother.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the home. Rev. E. B. Townsend will officiate. Interment will be made in Putnam Cemetery.

The body will remain at the Dixon-Shaffer funeral home until Friday at 9 a.m. when it will be taken to the home.
