LESLIE J. LAYTON

GILBERT -- Retired rancher Leslie J. Layton, 62, who was born at Bryce in Graham County and moved here three months ago from Springerville, died Sunday in his home at Gilbert.

Mr. Layton was a high priest in the Gilbert Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Survivors include his wife, Janice C.; two sons, Christopher J. of Baird, California; Edmund M. of Coolidge; a daughter, Ann Marie Layton of Gilbert; three brothers, Delbert of Phoenix; John of Tempe and Max of St. George, Utah; three sisters, Mrs. Ray Alder of Pima; Mrs. Guy Anderson of Safford and Mrs. Helen Jenkins of Buckeye; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. tommorrow in the Gilbert LDS Ward Chapel. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. tommorrow in the Thatcher Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Meldrum Mortuary, Macdonald at First Street, Mesa.

Leslie Joy Layton was the son of Leslie Williams Layton and Nellie (Ellen) Claridge Layton.

He was married and had about four children. His son, Kenneth C. Layton, died in 1949.
