William Mellen 82, of Indianapolis, passed away May 28, 2008. He was born September 14, 1925, in Westville, IL to John and Lillie Mellen. William served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was an assistant manager of labor relations at Conrail for 47 years; he retired in 1990. In retirement, William worked for Mr. D's Grocery. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the American Legion for more than 60 years. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen C. Mellen; daughter, Marilyn M. Kennedy; grandson, Matthew M. (Emily) Kennedy and Michael M. Kennedy (Kate Korslin); and great grandson, Alexander M. Kennedy.
He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
