DAVID SZCZYGIELSKI
David James Szczygielski, 3-year-old son of Trisha Szczygielski of the 1800 block of Southeast Eighth Street died of head trauma Saturday at Blank Children's Hospital. The death has been rules a homicide. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of the Open Bible, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
David was born in Des Moines. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Daniel, and two sisters, Kimberlee Szczygielski and Juli Szczygielski, all of Des Moines; his grandparents, Rosalind and Chuck Maples of Des Moines, Carroll and Richard Szczygielski of Buffalo, N.Y.; and his great-grandparents, Helen and Harry Russell of Pleasant Hill.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the David James Szczygielski Memorial Fund in care of Wells Fargo Bank. Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
