James A. Bartholomew of Hastings, a retired Koch Refining Co. employee, died Oct. 31, 2006, inHastings. He was 66 years old. He was born Jan. 2, 1940, in Fargo, N.D., the son of James F. and Irma (Nance) Bartholomew. He was a graduate of Fargo High School. He served in the United States Navy and was a 23-year employee of Koch Refining Co., now Flint Hills Resources. He loved to fish and build model airplanes. He married Ruth Myers Dec. 18, 1964, in Fargo. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Sue (Lance) Lange of Red Wing and Joy (Jim) Nickels of Lake City; grandchildren, James and Clayton; sister, Nance (Charles) Grady of Omaha, Neb.; and nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service was held Nov. 3 at the United Methodist Church of Hastings, with the Rev. Mike Graham officiating. Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Military honors were provided by the Fort Snelling Honor Guard. The Wise Family Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James served in the United States Navy and was a 23-year employee of Koch Refining Co. (now Flint Hills Resources). He married Ruth Myers December 18, 1964, in Fargo. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters; two grandchildren; sister, Nance, '64 (Charles) Grady of Omaha, NE; nieces nephews and friends.
