In Loving Memory of Sharon DeeAnn Bierma
Sharon Bierma, the daughter of August and Lucille (Ingebretson) Petersen, was born on January 13, 1941 in Casper, Wyoming. She grew up in Sioux Falls, SD where she attended school, graduating from Washington High School in 1959.

Sharon was united in marriage to Robert Groenewold on December 21, 1961. Robert passed away in May of 1965.

Sharon married William Bierma on November 23, 1973 in Rushmore, MN. After their marriage they lived and farmed south of Iona, MN. William passed away on July 22, 2005.

Sharon entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN in March of 2008. Sharon passed away at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton, MN on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the age of 71. She was a member of the Iona Presbyterian Church Iona, MN, where she had served as secretary and treasurer. Sharon also belonged to the United Presbyterian Women and served as president. She enjoyed reading and sewing.

Survivors include her three children, Susan (John) Ahlers and their sons, Logan and Landon of Bigelow, MN, Kristan (Jim) Weidert and their daughters, Lacy, Melissa, Nina and Olivia of Lismore, MN and Dan Bierma of Iona, MN; two brothers, David Weiland and Darrell Weiland both of Spokane, WA and sister, Carol (John) Purdie of Tacoma, WA. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands and infant twin brothers.

Funeral Services
Iona Presbyterian Church Iona, MN at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 with Pastor Deb Klaassen officiating. The organist is Sharon Lais. The pallbearers are Gaylen Cuperus, Les Overman, Dave Kremer, Pat Kremer, Danny Beerman and Ryan Fitzgerald. Interment at Sunset Rest Cemetery Rushmore, MN.
