Bertha Jane Ragan
Age95, of Dover, DE, formerly of Wilmington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 1, 2008.
Bertha was born on November 19, 1912, the daughter of the late Stephen and Mabel Ragan, grew up in Conowingo, MD and graduated from Tome High School in 1931. She also attended Goldey-Beacom College and worked for the Hercules Co. for 40 years. After retirement, she volunteered at the Delaware Hospital and worked in the pharmacy. She had a great love for travel, and travel she did, to almost all of the 50 states. She was an artist at heart and added an artist's flair to everything. Her greatest work was drawing portraits, which she started at an early age. She was a member of the Mispillian Art League of Milford, where her drawings were displayed on several occasions this past year. She was an avid beach goer and enjoyed the sun very much, which she found rejuvenating. She was an outgoing, personable and optimistic woman and everyone enjoyed her company. Her favorite color was pink and she loved pink roses. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Bertha is survived by nephews Nathan Ragan of Wilmington and Paul Ragan of Quakertown, PA; a niece Shirley Webb of Wilmington and a great niece Diane Stewart Deeney ad her husband Bill of Milford, who will dearly miss her.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am, on Thursday June 5, at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711. Friends and family may call at the funeral home beginning at 10 am. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Methodist Cemetery in Peach Bottom, PA.
