He was born November 28, 1953, in Salt Lake City, to Wayne Giauque and Jennie Josephine Fercik Ashworth. He married Kristin Dorothy Johnson on February 28, 1975, in the Salt Lake Temple. Graduated from West High School. Attended the University of Utah. Was an ironworker. Served as an LDS missionary in Bolivia from 1973-75. Active member of the LDS Church. Rod loved his wife and children. He was easy going and enjoyed learning. Rod was loved by his family and friends.
Survived by his wife and four children, Kenneth, 13, Michael, 12, Jennie, 10, and Kristy, 6, all of Omaha, Nebraska; parents, Wayne and Maurine Ashworth, siblings, Jo Ellen Ashworth, Monte G. Ashworth, all of Salt Lake City; and Linette Ashworth Smith, Bountiful; and parents-in-law, Kenneth C. and Claire Johnson, preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 3, 1990 at 12 noon, at the Rose Park Second Ward, 1163 West 800 North. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, and Wednesday, at the church, from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Interment at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
