Effie M. (Parsons) Sims Reynolds

Her obituary from the March 18, 2004 Indianapolis Star:

Effie M. Parsons Reynolds, 80, Indianapolis, died March 17, 2004. She was a supervisor 33 years for Western Electric, retiring in 1992. Mrs. Reynolds was a member of Speedway Nazarene Church. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004 in Conkle Funeral Home Lynhurst Chapel, with calling from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2004. Burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery. Survivors include husband, Marion Reynolds; son and daughter-in-law, Billie Joe and Marie Sims; son, Donald Max Sims; step-son, Gary Reynolds; step-daughter, Kathy Hurst; sisters, Pauline McKinney, Joyce Maybrier, Joan Stoops; brother, Carl Parsons; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren.

Effie was one of my mom's best friends. Mom ran a carpool almost the whole time she worked at Western Electric. Effie was one of her riders. So that Mom could spend more time with her friend, we started attending church in Speedway in September 2001.

The 1930 census taken in Waynesburg District, Lincoln County, Kentucky show 7 year old, Effie Parsons as the daughter of Frank and Mollie Parsons. Also listed were Clarence, age 9, Pauline, age 5, Ona, age 3 and Frank's parents, Alford, age 66, and Emeline, age 65. Frank and his parents were born in North Carolina. Mollie was born in West Virginia. Clarence was born in Tennessee. The other children, which includes Effie, were born in Kentucky. Mollie's age could make one question whether she was the mother of all of the children. The record further indicates that when Frank and Mollie married, they were age 26 and 15 respectively, so they had been married for about 11 years and the oldest child was 9.

Effie is listed in the Kentucky birth records with her place of birth as Lincoln County.
