Charles Clifford Herridge, age 91, of 705 S. Prairie, Lacon, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Jan. 3, 1917, in La Prairie to the late Fred and Alice Scoon Herridge. He married Dorothy Hufnagel on March 7, 1941, in Henry. She survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Gary (Sharon) Herridge of Washington, W.Va., and Daniel (Nina) Herridge of Lacon; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth "Peg" Weekly, also of Lacon.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Clifford Kent Herridge; and three brothers, Thomas, Emory and William Herridge.
He worked at Caterpillar Inc. prior to World War II and then farmed in several locations in central Illinois most of his life. He especially liked Black Angus cattle and was a life member of the American Black Angus Association and also the Marshall County Farm Bureau.
Clifford was an avid bowler and was considered one of the best fast pitch softball pitchers in the surrounding area and at one time pitched a no hitter.
Interment will be in La Prairie United Presbyterian Cemetery.
