Mrs. May A. Blair Thompson, 86, Indianapolis, died September 5, 2004. She had worked for RCA for 15 years and was a homemaker. Mrs. Thompson was also a member of Speedway Nazarene Church. Calling will be held Thursday, September 9 in Flanner & Buchanan, Morris Street, from 3 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 10 at Speedway Nazarene Church with calling there from 11 to 1 p.m. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Perry and Blanche Blair; husbands, James O. Dunz, Levi Irvine and Clarence Thompson; sons, James Dunz, Johnny Dunz, Michael Dunz and Bobby Dunz. Survivors include her sons, Raymond, William and Martin Dunz; daughters, Cora Thompson, Peggy Staggs, Jeannie Dunz, Theresa Dunz and Lisa Fishburn; 25 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
I ran the sound system for the funeral. It was one of the most touching funerals I had ever witnessed. Her grandson and his wife sang for her. I had seen them do this while she was living so it was perfectly fitting that it be done just one more time.
