George was the sixth of eight children born to Caroline Tudor and Jeremiah Reynolds. He married Susan E. Babb on 8 Mar 1891 and they had one son, Adolphus, before the marriage ended in divorce.
George left Kentucky for Mississippi and was in Clarksdale during the great flood of 1897. Working as a logger, he travelled to Oregon, up to Washington State and back to Mississippi, all by 1910. After his return, he met and married Virginia West on 5 Sep 1920. They had four children: Thomas, Annie, Raymond and Robert.
