Mary Jane Goldstrand, 74, died at the Karlstad Healthcare Center surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, August 15, 2006.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 18 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Bronson, with Pastor Theresa Kraft officiating. All who attended Mary's funeral were considered honorary casket bearers. Casket bearers included Mary's grandchildren, Daniel Goldstrand Darrin Warnke David Bedard, Jessica Hasbargin, Chad Warnke, Gene Bedard, Tyson Warnke, Matthew Anderson, Patrick Anderson, Shanda Warnke, Shawna Warnke and Brandon Warnke. Interment was held at Riverside Cemetery in Lake Bronson. Arrangements were with Collins Funeral Homes of Karlstad, Greenbush and Middle River.
Mary Jane Goldstrand, the daughter of the late William and Annie (Muir) Hanson, was born on June 20, 1932, in Hazelton Township of Kittson County. She attended North Star School until second grade, then moved with her family to Grygla, where she attended school and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1950.
Mary Jane was united in marriage to Gene Goldstrand in Marshall Coounty and they made their home in Cannon Township, near Lake Bronson. She worked at the Lancaster School for seven years and as a jailer-dispatcher for the Kittson county Sheriff's Dept. Gene died February 14, 1982.
Mary Jane also was a member of the Hallock Volunteer Ambulance Squad, served as clerk of the Cannon Town Board for 50 years, and dedicated much of her time to the Kittson County Museum.
She continued to work at the museum until she became ill in Dec. of 2005. Mary Jane loved helping many people research their genealogy over the years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lake Bronson, the Halma-Lake Bronson American Legion Auxiliary and served on the Lake Bronson Centennial Committee, being very active in all of its activities. She has resided at the Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad since February.
She is survived by two daughters, Debra Jane (Lynn) Warnke of Johnstown, N.D., and Teresa (Glenn) Anderson of Lancaster; two sons, Bruce (Connie) and Michael, both of Lake Bronson; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Hanson of Thief River Falls; her aunt, Ruby Sorenson of Hallock; in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two sons, Daniel and Jesse.
