Emerson Winthrope Roller, 88, of Grants Pass died on October 2, 2004 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. He was born on March 19, 1916 in Alva, Oklahoma ro Alexander Nathaniel and Edith Molly (Littrell) Roller. On October 7, 1939, in Alva, he married Zella Mae Carver, who survives. They lived in Oklahoma until 1947, when they moved to Kansas, where they lived nine years. In 1956, they moved to Osburn, Idaho and in 1958, they moved to Grants Pass. He worked as a building contractor and retired at age 62. In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, Alexander Nathaniel Roller of Columbia City and Clyde Lawrence Roller of Charlotte, North Carolina; his sister, Irene Cecelian Patton of La Grande; a half brother, Clarence Dean Bates of St. Maries, Idaho; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. His daughter, Ruby Louise Culp, preceded him in death.
