James H. Street enlisted on September 3, 1864 as a Private at Tullahoma, Tennessee in Company Batty B, Kentucky Batty B Light Artillery Battery on March 9, 1864. Mustered out on November 15, 1864 at Louisville, KY. Sources: Report of the Adjutant General of the State of Kentucky.

He applied for veterans benefits on April 30, 1879.

Chico Daily Record, Thursday Morning, January 3, 1918, pg 5 col 4: Funeral Services Are Held for J.H. Street. James H. Street, who died early on Tuesday morning at his home in Chapmantown, was laid to rest in Chico Cemetery yesterday afternoon, following services conducted in the Fetters & Williams chapel by Rev. Holmes of the Latter Day Saints church. Deceased was seventy-seven years old, a native of Kentucky, and a member of the G.A.R. Surviving are his widow and a son, Joseph Street.

He was interred, per CCA records on January 2, 1918, and Susie Street was granted widow's benefits per application dated January 17, 1918.
