Chico Daily Enterprise, Thursday July 2, 1914, pg 2 col 3: Father of Mrs. Elmer Gobel [sic] is Dead. John F. Chevileer, father-in-law of Elmer Gobel, who had been living with the Gobels at their home on the Esplanade, near Lincoln avenue, for several months, having come from Ohio in the hopes of bettering his health, died last night at 11 o'clock. He was 81 years of age.
The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock from Fetters & Williams' undertaking parlors, and the services will be conducted by Halleck Post, grand Army of the Republic and the local Odd Fellows.
Surviving deceased, in addition to the widow, are three daughters, Mrs. Maud Gobel of this city, Mrs. Grace Rawson of Bellevue, Ohio, and Mrs. Effie Hadley of Portland, Ore.
Burial took place at Chico Cemetery, per Chico Cemetery Association records, on July 5, 1914.
