Chico Daily Enterprise, Tuesday Evening, November 7, 1916. Louis. Goodbub Succumbs to Pneumonia. Louis Goodbub, a prominent grocer of Chico in the Barber addition, died at his home last evening on South Broadway at 10:30 following an extended illness of pneumonia. His wife, Sarah, was seriously ill with pneumonia in the next room at the time of his death.
Goodbub was a native of France and came to the United States at the age of six years. For more than 25 years he was in the grocery business in Louisville, Ky., and in 1906 moved to Chico to be near his daughter, who was the wife of J.W. Fletcher of the Diamond Match Company. He purchased the Barber grocery shortly after his arrival here, from W.T. Cope.
Little hope is entertained for the recovery of Mrs. Goodbub and every effort is being made to keep the news of her husband's death from her.
Deceased was a member of the Odd Fellows, and the G.A.R.
Surviving are: Mrs. Louise Cope of Santa Cruz, a sister; John and Henry Goodbub of Louisville, Ky., sons; Miss Minnie Goodbub, Mrs. J.H. Roberts of Hamilton, Ohio, and Mrs. J.W. Fletcher of Los Angeles, daughters.
Burial records at Chico Cemetery indicate he and wife Sarah were interred on November 13, 1916.
