Chico Record, Sunday Morning, April 13, 1913, pg 4 col 5: Well Known Butte Rancher Dies In East. R.J.H. Nugent Passes While in Oklahoma on a Business Trip. R.J.H. Nugent, a well-known Butte county rancher and stock raiser, died suddenly Friday night in Bixby, Okla., according to a telegram received here yesterday by his son, Harry Nugent. Nugent was on a business trip east.

The remains will be shipped to Chico for burial.

Deceased was one of the best-known ranchers and stockmen of the Chico section for forty years. He resided near Nord.

John Nugent of Chico is a brother and Harry Nugent is a son of the deceased. A number of other relatives survive his loss.

Veterans benefits were sought on May 15, 1891; and interment, at "age 66" took place, per CCA records on April 19, 1913.
