William Joseph "Bill" Busby, Sr., 70, of Chanute, Kansas passed away June 6, 2008 at his residence.

He was born July 24, 1937, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of William Stephen Busby and Mabel Alice (Manes) Busby.

Bill married Phillis Ann Davis on November 1, 1959 in Springfield, Missouri.

He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

Bill was a diesel mechanic with Ryder Truck Rental Company.

He is survived by his wife, Phillis of the home; two sons, Donald A. Busby and William J. Busby, Jr.; daughter, Tammy E. King and her husband Edward; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be June 14, 2008 at Westview Southern Baptist Church in Chanute, Kansas. Graveside services will be at Altoona Cemetery, Altoona, Kansas.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Chanute, Kansas.
