AIRHART, OTTIS W., passed away April 20, 2008 in Birmingham. He was 91 years young. Born in Oakman, AL he was the son of Lee Airhart and Fleeta Gant Airhart. He is predeceased by two brothers, Alvin and Albert. As a young man, Mr. Airhart labored in the coal mines of Alabama. When the call to arms went out in WWII, he answered by joining the U.S. Navy. He served in the South Pacific. He retired from Devoe -Celanese Coatings in 1976. He was a deacon, trustee, treasurer and Sunday School teacher in the Int'l Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was predeceased by his first wife of 31 years, Teula Mae Perkins in 1974. He married Robbie Bea Shirley in 1976. Mrs. Shirley-Airhart passed away Sept. 30, 2007. Mr. Airhart is survived by three children: Lee (LaVerne) Airhart of Hoover, AL; Vicki (Steve) Thomas of Trussville, AL; and Marty (Marsha) Airhart of California, MD. Two beloved stepsons: The Rev. Dwight Shirley of Sumter, SC and James Shirley (deceased) of Forestdale, AL. His legacy includes 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be 6-8 PM @ Cornerstone Church, 2600 Mt. Olive Road, Mt. Olive, Wednesday evening. Services will be Thursday, 2 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Chapel, Trussville, Al. with interment to follow in the Gardens. The family wishes to express a personal tribute to daughter-in-law LaVerne Airhart for her care and love of the past 4 years.
