Evelyn Jackson Spencer, 90, of Hunters Trail, passed away June 6, 2008, in her home. Evelyn was a retired Norfolk school teacher and also retired from Fairmount Building Supply. She is survived by a daughter, Karen B. Spencer of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; a son, Paul B. Spencer Jr. and wife Janice of Suffolk; and three grandchildren, Alexandra, Grace and Shane. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with the Rev. Michelle Louk officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Evelyn Jackson Spencer was the beloved wife of Paul Blair Spencer Sr., who was the owner of Fairmont Building Supply in Norfolk, Virginia. Paul Spencer was a graduate of University of Alabama and was on the All America football team. Soon Paul joined the United States Navy and was a pilot in World War ll. Paul and Evelyn were married in 1944 during World War ll. They became the parents of two children whom they adored, and were married for sixty-one years until Paul passed away at age 89 on March 15, 2006. Paul Blair Spencer is at rest at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News City, Virginia beside his parents Thomas Albion Spencer & Irene Osberry Davidson Spencer.
