Nettie Abel, 80, Stricken at Hospital
Mrs. Nettie E. Abel, 80, Hope route 2, died about 3 p.m. Thursday at Bartholomew county hospital where she had been a patient for 10 weeks.
She was a member of the First Methodist church and the Clifty Home Demonstration club.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Barkes and Inlow funeral home with burial at Garland Brook cemetery. Dr. Merrill B. McFall, pastor of the First Methodist church, will read the rites. Casket is open at the funeral home.
She was born Dec. 28, 1882, in Harrison county, the daughter of William David and Mary I. Askren Long. On Dec. 24, 1905, she was married to Frank Abel, who died June 22, 1957.
Surviving are four sons, Francis Abel of Route 8, Kenneth Abel of 1301 Twenty-fifth street, Harold Abel of Flat Rock park, and Dwight Abel of 824 Washington Street; two daughters, Mrs. Earl Higgins of Hope route 2 and Mrs. Joseph Holder of Hope route 1; a brother, Walter Long of Miami, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Hisey and Mrs. John Gunter, both of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Dallie Everroad of Indianapolis, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
