Sever was born in Sogndal, Norway, November 10, 1845. When he was 21 he came to the USA, making his home in Stoughton, WI. He later moved to Mona, Iowa. He married Stina Wold in Mona on May 18, 1875. They had twelve children. Four preceded him in death. His wife, Stina, died April 18, 1897. Forty-two years before his death, Sever and family moved to Somerset, WI, and after that they resided in Stanton, Baldwin, Wheeler and lastly Star Prairie. Sever died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence E. Johnson, after a lingering illness. Sever's grave does not have a stone but he is buried next to Stina.
