The June 21, 1937 edition of The Robesonian included the following: Rites for Allen McCallum – Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the grave in the McGirt cemetery by Rev. L. A. McLauren, Presbyterian minister of Rowland, for Allen, 5 ½ months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Brown McCallum of this community, who died Monday afternoon following an illness of several days. The grave was banked by beautiful flowers. He is survived by his parents and four brothers – Willis Lawrence, Ray Bowman, Robert Neal, James Ertel. An uncle, Lawrence McCallum lived with him.
