He served throughout WWII with extensive action in the South Pacific.As a member of the 5th Air Force, 80th Fighter Squadron, "The Head-hunters," Mark flew over 135 combat missions, principally in the Lockheed P-38 Lightning. During his wartime engagement he attained the rank of Captain. He loved to fly.
