Richard Griffith was born in Wales, England, April 14, 1830 [1831], and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. E. Middleton, in Texas, March 14, 1913, aged 83 years and eleven months. He came to America with his parents when about 14 years old and settled in the state of Ohio. He was the second son of a family of fifteen children, all of whom are dead, he being the last one of the family. He was married to Miss Anna Williams in the year 1853 and moved to the state of Missouri, where they reared a family of ten children, seven of whom are living. His wife has been dead 12 years. He made a profession of faith in Christ when a young man and united with the Baptist church, of which he remained an active, leading member for more than half a century; was a deacon for a number of years.
