Robert L. Ahrmann, 75, of Talley Road, died at 3:25 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2002, at his home.

He retired as a captain with the Columbus Fire Department after 33 years of service. He also owned Bob's Guttering Service.

Mr. Ahrmann was a member of Garden City Church of Christ, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was an avid Indiana University sports fan and participated as "Bouncing Bob" Arhmann in the Old Timer's auto racing circuit.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Vernon Jewell–Nick Rittman Funeral Home, with the Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with a military graveside service by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.

Memorials may be made to Firemen's Cheer Fund, Hospice of South Central Indiana or Garden City Church of Christ.

Mr. Arhmann was born Dec. 2, 1926, in North Vernon, the son of William and Grace V. Hayden Ahrmann. He married Rosemary Goins on Jan. 8, 1973. She died April 18, 2001.

Survivors include a son, Robert S. "Steve" Ahrmann of Columbus; daughters, Deborah L. Coy and Lisa Zeigler, both of Columbus; a stepson, Ray Anderson of Columbus; a stepdaughter, Pam Shepherd of Columbus; 19 grandchildren; 12 great–grandchildren; and sisters, Ruby Ross and Norma Minor, both of Columbus.

The funeral for Robert L. Ahrmann, 75, of North Talley Road was Tuesday at Vernon Jewell-Nick Rittman Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Organist was Don Davidson and vocalists were Erin Imel and Mel Darnall.

Burial was at Garland Brook Cemetery. Pallbearers were Isaac and Matt Coy, Clint Ahrmann, Mike Spires, Mike Herra and Mark Imel. Military graveside rites were conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard. Bagpipes were played by Kevin Konetzka and Mike Kutsko.

Mr. Ahrmann died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at his home.
