"Frank M Blakeslee, One of Best Known Men in Vicinity, Died Sunday at Corry Hospital -
Spartansburg, Dec 19 - Death of F M Blakeslee - Frank Milton Blakeslee of this place died at the Corry hospital early Sunday morning, Dec 18, of a complication of diseases. He was 75 years of age the 29th of last May, was born in Spartansburg, and had resided here and in Sparta township all his life. About fifty years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Mead of Sparta township, who died about twelve years ago. To them three children were born, Chauncey of Washington state, Wayne of Union City, and Bernice who lived with him. He was the son of Abraham and Harriet Blakeslee, pioneer settlers of this place, and is survived by three brothers, Cyrus of Columbus, Pa, O P Blakeslee and Herbert of this place, and one sister, Mrs William Hall of Vinton, Ia. He had been ill about six weeks and was taken to the hospital about one week ago in the effort to prolong his life. He was of a quiet, retiring disposition and during his early life followed farming, but was always passionately fond of hunting, and during the latter years of his life followed hunting and trapping. He was never so happy as when with a dog and gun he was trampling through the woods, and accompanied many hunting parties, and it was while on one of these trips with John M Webb, he was taken ill. He not only hunted but studied the habits and customs of wild animals and birds and was the best informed in this line of any man in this section. The funeral services in his memory will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 in the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev G W Corey. Interment in the Rose Hill cemetery."
